Virtual Consultation with Becca
Got a list of questions about how to make cake pops, how to price them, how to market them, how to get licensed as a home business, or anything else related to making & selling cakes pops? Schedule a time for a consultation!
Connect with me video or phone. Not an extrovert, or find it challenging to find a time to chat "live?" We can connect over email, too. Video and phone consultations are charged by the time. The email rate is based on a standard reply (to a list of questions) taking about 30 minutes to compose and include appropriate links/resources. If the reply to your email request will require significantly more than that investment of time, I will let you know the updated rate before I reply, so you can decide if you'd like to either reduce the quantity of questions or invest the additional payment.
If you'd like to do more than just Q&A and Troubleshooting, such as a private cake pop lesson, select "Video with Cake Pop Teaching/Demonstrating," which includes a 1-hr video teaching session, where I will work virtually alongside you to create a desired cake pop design, or coach you through the "basics" of taking a baked cake and sculpting it into a cake pop.
A bit about me
In 2012, I left my teaching career to start my online cake pop business. Since then, I've restructured the business twice, because of moves. I'm licensed as a cottage food operator in Georgia, and can tell you almost everything you need to know about getting CF-licensed in this state. My knowledge of CF-licensing in other states is limited, as each state's law vary. Using books and the internet, I taught myself how to make cakes pops from scratch, and how to hand-sculpt almost all of my designs. I have made cake pops for just about any type of client: brides, moms-to-be, event stylists, businesses, and large corporations, and for every theme from mermaids to airplanes to champagne glasses. Notable clients include The Late, Late Show with James Corden, One Direction, AT&T, Savannah College of Art and Design, and SAV Airport for Southwest Airlines.
I have a background in education, and take pride in offering tutorials and information that is attainable and easily applied. I have coached dozen of bakers, sold over 500 video tutorials, and have over 150,000 followers on Instagram who seek out my content to educate and inspire.
Here are some questions I can help you answer:
*How do I make cake pops? (the "Video with Cake Pop Demo/Teaching" session is recommended for this)
*What tips do you have for starting a business?
*What licenses do you need? How/where do I get them?
*How do you get a Cottage Food License in Georgia?
*How do you make ______ design? (I can offer sculpting tips & resources for most designs, excluding those for which there is already a tutorial for purchase, or those for which a tutorial will be offered soon. If you have a specific design you'd for which like to book a consultation, please email me at SweetWhimsyShop@gmail.com before you purchase. If you'd like me to make the design along with you and coach as we go, select the "Video with Cake Pop Demo/Teaching" option)
*What chocolate, sprinkles, fondant, (or any other specific list of supplies) do you use?
*How do I grow my social media following like you did?
*How do you price your cake pops? How do you justify charging "so much?"
*How/where do you find clients?
*How do you efficiently communicate with clients to get all the info you need and help them feel cared-for?
*What tips do you have for pop-ups and market events?
*How do you manage invoices, payments, taxes, and similar bookkeeping-related duties?
Here are a few questions/topics I will NOT be able to answer or address:
*Questions about Cottage Food Licensing in states other than Georgia. I can offer general tips, but every state's CF laws, and I'm only proficient in Georgia's laws
*Specific recipes. My cake (and frosting) recipes are not currently available.
*Tips for working with boxed cake mix, as I do not have experience with boxed cake mixes (or canned frostings).
*Designs that are trademarked. Since it's illegal to reproduce designs that are trademark & copyrighted, I will not teach how to make them. Examples include likenesses of Harry Potter, Superman, Bluey, etc. I can, however, help you brainstorm license-fee ideas for a trademarked theme (such as using construction hats and light blues & oranges for a Blippi-themed order).
*Legal advice, such as whether to establish your business as an LLC, Sole Proprietorship, or Corporation or what is tax-deductible.
*Advice on shipping baked goods. In most states, Cottage Food Laws prohibit the sale of food across state lines.
